power steering box and pump setup

Post by rumpig89 »

i have a power steering setup removed from a FJ45 cruiser. Was reconditionded only a few months before the vehicle was written off. I believe it is originally off a hilux?? (it says "toyota 35130") it is plumbed into a powersteering pump that i believe may be VN/VS (was used on a 253 in the FJ) all good condition!

firstly im after confirmation of what type of power steering box it is and how much the setup is probably worth?

any info appreciated

cheers

you need pics of it mounted.
it could be a solid axle hilux box with a modified perch
or it could be a factory fj40 box.
or it could be a 60 series type conversion that bolts to the side of the chassis

have yo ugot any pics?

hilux steering box.

looks like a solid axel job like off a ln 106. the surf ifs ones are a bit different but its hard to tell from that pic.
the solid axel pump is worth more than the ifs. 2-400 for a rebuilt one, i reckon depending on how it was rebuilt - some use a fake metal and re machine it, some re chrome which is much better and lasts much longer.

the pump has vs-nv written on it which i would think is a pretty good indicator - but i dont know from just looking at it.

Does it have some kind of addapter between the steering box and the mount on the chassie? If not then its a stock 40 series power steering box. Basicaly the only difference in a stock 40 series box and a hilux box is the angle it bolts to the chassie mount.

it had to be spaced out on an angle to mount on the 45 so it must be solid axle hilux. any ideas for what its worth. might put it up for sale here or ebay.

If it had the spacer than its a hilux box. I hope you kept the spacer because without it its only worth a couple of hundred at the most. If you have the spacer you may get upwards of $1000 on ebay for it- http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :IT&ih=015

looks like a hilux box,

the angle of the perch relating to the shaft angle is not cruiser.

its worth a few hundred at most. chuck it on ebay as a solid axle lux kit and try your luck.
