Sierra Fuel Cap Not Fitting...

Post by SJ413 »

Hey all Im new to this -

Anyway we have just bought a 1991 Sierra & it is missing its fuel cap -

Ive tried tons of the aftermarket ones that are suppost to fit but none of them do...

Just wondering if this is common or has my car got a diffrent fuel tank or it may have been played with so now the fuel cap will not fit :?:

Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem with mine.
I tried several locking caps but none of them fitted.
Then I got one of a Suzuki Carry Van. Fits like a glove and locks!

Would Repco carry a variety of fuel caps?

Thinking about replacing mine as the suzuki barrel (keylock) is crap in the cap.

I tried 4 different caps from Supercrap and 3 from Ripco before I gave up.
I found the Carry cap by accident. :D
Maybe buy a cap listed as Carry Van not Sierra.

I ordered a CPC cap from repco and it fit fine. locks too. the only problem is the rubber seal doesnt seal too well.

there is a seller on ebay that is selling them too.

Since I bought my Sierra it has had some sort of no-name aftermarket cap. Doesn't look like it seals properly, sits at a upward angle etc. But it does; the tank still releases pressure when the cap is taken out, locks on. Just looks off...

These would make a great short term fix. The main concern I'd have is if you can't lock the cap, your fuel can be stolen.
If people are game enough to do 'drive offs' at a servo's, syphoning fuel out of someone's car is nothing.

As my fuel gauge doesn't work. I judge the fuel left in my tank by kilometres travelled. If someone pinches fuel from me, I could end up stranded.

not to mention the pricks that add not so good things to your tank.... I would much rather have my fuel syphoned then some POS adding shit

I got a great cap from the guys at BBM. Locks and is VERY secure..

I've searched their website but can't find a direct link to it. (They've just built a new website)
