Tube Buggy

Back from holidays now so hopefully should get it running soon. About the only thing Ive done now since the last lot of pics is tacked the steering box bracks in. Its not an easy thing to do mounting the steering box to a piece of tube and trying to make it strong but it should come up good. Full hydro would be much simple.
Thinking of moving the front axle forwards 4in cause it looks a bit funny from the side. The scale of the whole thing it setup up to have the front axle forwards the 4in and I moved it back so I could run the rover radius arms. Not sure how Im going to accomplish this - might just cut and extend the radius arms or maybe I can move the mounts forwards the 4inches.
The driveshafts I got dont fit anyway - not sure what sort of disco they are out of but they are slightly different lengths to whats under mine. So im going to have to cut and shut these eitherway.
Other drama Ive got is that the 42in tyres on 8in rims with 4in backspacing will hit the spring chassis mounts if they are mounted normally. So Ive either got to move the springs in a bit on the axles or get some wheel spacers or something. Not a bit job but still a PITA.

All the rear links are custom and the front ones are modified.
Not so much stock links but stock axle attachments. The rear ball will limit things but will give enough travle and the front radius arms also limit things but again give enough travel (actually they will give more than enough since Ive cranked them inwards)
Mega travel is overated and is unnecessary especially for the sort of driving that I do.

Looks good Sam. definately needs the 2a grille, bonnett and windscreen panel.
Out of interest, are you familiar with what is needed to get an individually constructed vehicle like the buggy registered in QLD?
Whats the front/rear weight balance going to be like? Are you going to keep the radiator front mounted?

Bonnet and grill for sure but i dont think the windscreen panel would fit cause it would block half the windscreen.
Yes I looked at the individually constructed vehicle - basically you got to satisfy all current ADRs and pass all handling tests and convince the engineer that it is all strong enough and you are there. Dont have to crash test.
Front is heavier but it is fair bit less than twice as heavy. Guessing 60/40 at the moment.
Radiator wont be in front of the motor. Either above the motor or in the back.

To satisfy ADR's for "new" individually constructed vehicles don't you also also have to fit an engine that is newer than 10 years old or something???

I think that there is a rule that if its less than so many years old then you dont have to do an emmision test. If its older than that you have to pass the test. Basically anything running LPG only will pass the test I think.
Im not initially concerned with the rego ATM I just want to get it wheeling. I have already done a few things wrong that wont allow it to be engineered - biggest one is the roll cage (tube too small and not continuous hoop) but I can change all this if I have to. Im also looking at a few other rego types but if everything goes well this year on the competition scene it wont have to be regoed (but it would still be cool to be able to drive it on the street.

nah it's the driver that counts and from what i've seen you are a pritty good driver 
Actually drove it today.
Still got no shocks and the carb is running up to crap and have only got a foot pedal hooked up the the handbrake drum for brakes but at least it runs.
Drove the bridge easily (driving up the hard side) and up my rock pile easily - feels very light and maybe a little undergeared with the 42s although with the motor running badly its very hard to tell.
Got no exhaust either ATM so it a noisy mo fo.
Ruff took some pics so hopefully he will post them tonight.

Havnt got the toy cvs in the front nor the new axles (these should turn up early next week cause they have already landed in bris but the transport guy had a bit of a balls up and didnt get it to me today) So in the front I still have the toy centre with custon jac mac axles but running rangie CVs.
Will be a bit of work to get them in cause I got to do the spindle mods but it will happen before xrcc.
