Is the 105 Cruiser front tailshaft the same as an 80 series?
As above is the 105 Cruiser tailshaft the same as an 80 series or is it the same as a V8 100 series, Mine sort of fell out so I don't have any idea on lengths etc. Mine was a 99 105 Series cruiser.

The 80 and 105 share thesame chassis dimensions, the shafts should b thesame except for the 1hz 5 speed, which uses a prado gearbox, therefore is different lengths front and back to a cruiser gearbox.
The rear shaft on a 1hz 5 speed uses smaller unis too....strange ting...

Thanks dow50r I only have half a shaft in at the moment, I have the bit that connects onto the diff centre left, I left the transfer end disconnected but still on the bolts (no nuts on) for the short trip to the exhaust centre after I fitted a 1HDT in so the exhaust bloke didn't have to undo it. I didn't hear the tailshaft drop out due to the noise of the turbo coming straight out of the dump pipe.
Next question since they might be different lengths can I pull an 80 series one in half and use the female end (transfer end) and will it fit into the 105 slip joint? I have the R151 gearbox. I know the tailshaft won't be balanced properly but that can be rectified, I also don't do a million miles an hour while in 4wd too often.

oooh.... R151 behind a 1HD... thats not going to end happily.
I'll put up some picks tomorrow that shows what a 1HZ did to an R151, and its transfer case when the PTO bolted to the side siezed up!

Andrew, shafts are the same, as the HZJ105 R151F has a longer housing so the t/case still sits in the same position.dow50r wrote:The 80 and 105 share thesame chassis dimensions, the shafts should b thesame except for the 1hz 5 speed, which uses a prado gearbox, therefore is different lengths front and back to a cruiser gearbox.
