Strange Sierra - "Type 2 Stockman"

Post by bigsteve »

Some Wacky Specs here:
2000 Model??? WTF
1.0 Engine
WT flares (& diffs by the look of it)
Coily Sierra Dash (I think)
Soft Top Ute Body

This was a first for me, did Suzuki produce these in any number and/or is this thing as rare as hens teeth???

probably a maruti, made in india or spain under licence. they were wt 1.0 litres, but a G10 not a F10 donk, basically bolts in like a 1.3, using mostly 1.3 running gear, but often with 4;1 diffs. be a good start fer a build, but the build quality aint as good as suzuki built models...or somebody made a woops :)

They where imported as LWB hard body Maruti's, and had the backs cut off them localy (Melb I think) a few years ago there were a heap of the rear halves turning up at the auctions I bought a few myself as they went for a hundred bucks or so, and they had W/T flares and a tail gate in as new cond, and a few people made trailers out of them as well.
I am not sure about the dash, but as Chris says the build quality was woefull.
There is a car yard in Dandy trying to sell one for $13000, I rang them up thinking it was $1300, HA HA.

That's an early model dash same as in the narrow track 1.3 sierras, sans clock by the looks of it.

i had a look at one when they where new, at ringwood suzuki, verry cool. is a coily dash, it looks the same as my dads old coily, maybe not all coily dash's were the same.
If its like chris says, and mounts are the same as 1.3, it could be a cool option, maruiti/suzuki, its all suzuki

MOCK OUT

the only thing on that dash that is the same as a coily is the vents. but it looks simular. coilys glove box is above the grab bar.

it's similar to my drover dash too except that it comes with a different instument cluster and has some fancy attachments to the top of the dash (between the glove box and the demister air vents)...

anyways - regardless - they all seem to be pretty cosmetic.

note: autometer gauges fit beautifully into those circular air vents

Marutis have a G10 with electronic dizzy, 4sp box, that can except a 5sp gearset without mods, All 1.3 running gear, with 4.11 diff ratios, and 1 litre transfer gears in a 1.3 case.

The dash is the same as the NT dash, cos the moulds were cheap to buy once the japs had finished with them.

Fully built in India by MARUTI UDYOG LIMITED. I have the owners manual :)
