Removing Center Bearing

Post by Weiner »

Stuffed my center bearing on my LN106 on the weekend and trying to get it off to put on the new one.

Got the back half of the tailshaft off, and am trying to remove the flange behind the bearing.

Whats the trick? is there a circlip on the nut I can't see or something?

aidan.

there is a smal indentation on the nut where it sits on the thread, you will need to punch or bencd that back out of the keyway part before you can loosen the nut.

If all else fails use a rattle gun to undo the nut...

Got the punch out and got the tab out and it came straight off.

Where would I get a new nut from as I am not too keen to use the same one.

Any of your nut and bolt shops should be able to help you otherwise toyota if you want to pay thru the nose. Just take the old one in with you.

bolt shops wont be able to help you. Neither will aftermarket. tis genuine only for those bastards.

I reused the one on the lux twice now- and when the new bearing went on (bout 300kms before the chinese bearing shat the bed. Get a hardy spicer one!) the old one was about 1/4 of a turn too loose!

using the old one is ok just so long as you can bend the locking tab in if not then get a new one.
