I'm thinking about turbo charging my Vit, just the standard G16A carby. Anyone done it?
I can get a turbo charger, not really interested in intercooling.
Obviously need to modify exhaust manifold to to accept turbine housing.
The carby air cleaner looks like it would be a problem. To get clean air through the turbo it would need to be changed to an EFI (G16B) type intake?
Just thinking about it at the moment, any thoughts or experiences would be cool.

if you dont want a intercooler, you may want to check out water / methanol injection. if you dont use something to cool the air you will not be getting the power increase you should.
also it can be tricky using carbs and turbos, there is a real knack for it. maybe try to source a su carb, these are much more turbo friendly.
just make sure you decide what you want to get out of it before you rush out and get all the rong bits.

Mate dont even attempt it unless you are completely informed and understand everything about turbocharging youre engine. A very good start is to read this book.

Cheers guys, I might read up a bit. I have a pretty good theoretical knowledge of turbocharging, and I have some practical experience with turbo diesels, but as you said, its a pretty serious modification and It would not be fun to get it wrong.
Perhaps supercharging would be a better option?
Thanks again
