tube front bars
tube front bars
hey lookin at making a bullbar out of tube, does anyone have any pics for some ideas. and mounting set ups. cheers
Tube bar
These pics are from my old coily. The bar was from a leaf sprung, I removed the third (rear cross tube) from the bar to save weight and clear my aircon assembly I also welded up the ends with plate. When I bought it the guy told me it was made by overkill. I have since sold the car so I can't help with any measurements but PM me if you want to know more and I will be only to happy to help. Regards, Stirlo.
i had mine the same as baskets
was ok until my farkwit mat snatched me at about 6000rpm and ripped the bar bolts through the ends of the rail
now i have 60mm chassis extension with 4 bolts per side running right through both side of the rail with crush tubes welded in.
now the body will separate from the chassis before the bar does

85 high roof 1.3, 6.5 tc, air lockers, ruf and 34 swampers. yep its an ugly pos.
Was thinking about crush tubes, but got to find a bolt or nut that will sit inside that bit below the body mount, mabye allen key type??. But have seen a few other done like mine and had no problem.alien wrote:basketcase - have you impacted anything with yours yet? looks like it'd rip right through the 3mm chassis rail... better to put crush tube in the rail and bolt all the way through it...
Don't grind the head off the bolt. Use a longer bolt with two crush tubes. One inside the chassis rail and one outside it, inside the perch outrigger.
Jas.
EDIT: Added the red bits to highlight the 3 crush tubes each side.

It is attached to the chassis rails using the factory holes and crush tubes, i also have 3mm plate welded to the chassis and the bar also bolted to that. i will take some photos soon.
The winch is actually mounted in a FULL winch cradle. it was laser cut, folded and welded and is made out of 5mm steel, the photo attached shows a view from underneath.

Hookers are like bowling balls, You pick them up, put your fingers in them, then throw them in the gutter and they come back for more.
