On my screen anyway - it's really not that much difference or that big. But really, the other guys are right - you will have no insurance hence if you hit someone get ready to file for bankruptcy when they sue you for a million or so due to damages to their person. Also - really, how old are you? Grow up, and be a man.. you don't need 6" for anything - heck, the most I would ever put in anything is 4" unless it was absolutely necessary.

Dude I'm not here to bag you but I have a mate that has a 7 inch with 35 inch MTZ gq I had a gq shagged standard and 31's and I go every were he dose and some times easer in saying that we don't climb rock ledges just up at toolangi and bunyip playing. I also just fitted 2inch with33's now yesturday, see how we go on the weekend!!
He had his work done at outback 4x4 in bayswater and I thought it was awesome work they did, the car rides surprizingly nice. What ever you do good luck and hope to see you on the tracks

Chubbz - my 2c worth is do it right whether it's 4" or 6"..don't just do it cos it looks - do it legally, let your insurance company know what you have done and be responsible cos I know even over here genuine 4wd's and club guys get a bad rap due to irresponsible 4wders (usually non club guys)!!!

maciek doesn't car about legalities and insurance everyone so try and get other that.
the 4k would be fore shocks, springs, extended brake lines, adjustable panhards, castor correction, fitting plus maybe some other stuff.
not a bad price but if you bought all the stuff you could prolly fit yourself or get some mates to help you.
i'll even do the work for you if you pay me
ps i drove the silver/grey ke at a couple of west meets with 4ac you were prolly too drunk to remember tho haha

went wheeling once with a guy in a GQ with 8" lift , 35s and dual locked.
i got to the top of the track with my little girly 3" lift and 35s, whereas he couldnt even make it up the first step without almost going for a lie down
for most driving people will want to do in a patrol, 4" is more than enough.
theres no point in having such a huge lift and then only running 35s
and then with small tires you will still get caught on your diffs anyway.. (thats why i went to 38s)
if you want to run 40s or bigger then yeh go for the larger lift, but also go for wider track while your at it.
i know a few guys with patrols that have had big lifts and are now taking them out to go smaller.
my GU with 3" and 38s drives better and goes further than a mate with 6" and 35s

there was a big debate about this a while ago...
thats what i used to think but apparently your truck needs to comply with the rules of the state or territory you are driving in also..

Ive heard that the transport is going federal next Jan so no more state wide bull shit. Im in QLD and mine has been federaly engineered and passed with a 4" sus and 2" body with 35's. So legally its all good!
Find an enginner in your area and speak to them about what you can do before you do anything, a bottle of rum always helps too!
When driving a lifted truck, dont go flat out untill you learn how it handles. Ive seen mini vans with no lift or mods roll over at 70kph and I can go round that same corner at 80kph no dramas. My point is that there is a lot more unsafe/unstable vehicles out there than a lifted patrol.
I say go for it if your going to use it, if your doing it for looks then I hope they lock you up with big bad bobby and his 12" pool cue !

i'm sure the issue with shops not wanting to lift a car 6" is not a warranty concern.

You might think it handles like a sports car, (and hey, maybe it does, what do i know?) BUT anything over 50mm in lift or more than 1/3 increase in wheel travel, more than 15mm increase in trye diameter, and wheel spacers are illegal in most states.
So most shops are fairly hesitant to go outside this, particularly if you dont want to stump up the thousands of $$ to get it engineered.

I disagree. My truck has no swaybars, 3" lift (but more like 4" due to light wieght) 2" body lift and is on 35 ET's and it handles a lot better than my 96 GQ LWB with 2" OME kit (new) on 33 radials and both swaybars. The difference is the winch truck has cost about 3x as much to build and has had some serious work done to the suspension.
So if the job is done right, then it is fine but $4K does not get the job done right. Double it might be right.
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)
