You need a factory service manual.

PS the exploded view isn't ideal as it doesn't show the difference between some of the part sizes - i.e there are a couple of spacers that can go on in the wrong place that aren't obvious until you go through the whole step by step thing in the manual.

If you plan on fitting diff gears for yourself you REALLY need a factory manual. It will save lots of headaches - all the specs, tolerances etc are shown and it's 10000's of times easier to follow than some photo's and descriptions.

Sorry I meant transfer gears.

Replacing bearings is exactly the same job as replacing transfer gears. You still need to have the procedure and tolerances etc.

Why didn't you say that to start with????????????????????????
If the shafts/flanges can move vertically, the case must leak like a sieve!
Play vertically suggests bearings are beyond their 'use by' date.

Mate , if the shafts can move up and down , more than likely the gears will be shagged , and running with no oil definantly will shag them , you need to drop your case out , split it in half and check the damage , if it is not salvagable , get a second hand one to get your car going , SUZI FOUR at Dunheved will have the right one you need for arround $350 - $400 dollars , Where you at , PM me , Cheers Paul.

i know suzi four. i do top the oil up. just i got crawler gears in then and dont want to lose them. so i though a rebuild would be alright.
it only moves up and down the slightest bit. i think enough to cause vibration

You need to post some pics of the suspension setup , being spoa , your angle of the tailshaft is probably causing your vibrations or a group of reasons due to the spoa conversion. Where your tailshafts lengthened properly , do they wobble while spinning , Cheers Paul.

So did I - bearings were removed, washed, checked, and reassembled. They weren't noisy when I took them out so I had no reason to assume they needed replacement. I have had no issues with transfer case noise at all since the gears went in so it worked out for me.

How much movement do you acutally have in the output flanges, can you give us a figure, not just "a little bit". I couldnt understand your last post at all (I'm not the only one it seems). As MART said, post up a heap of pics of your setup, before you go and tear into a t-case. Are your bearings in the t-case noisy at all?

the rear shaft is on a 20* angle. however when it never vibrated this badly.
the movment would be no more then 2-3mm
bearings in the t-case i cant tell over the engine
the tail shaft is fine but there is about 1-2mm in the splines moving

If your case is leaking oil out of the seals it will need to be pulled apart. You have to split the case to do some of the seals so while it's apart renew the bearings.

The Lowrange kit has everything needed except maybe one of the little needle roller bearings. This bearing is encased in between the shafts so I'd say yours is still OK.
When I rebuilt my case I replaced it but the old one was just as good as the new one.
