Newbie from AZ

Post by Paul G. »

Howdy from the Southwest (USA). I've been a Montero owner for the past 12 years, currently drive a '95 SR. Post on the Mits. wire , under user name monte 3. As for Lloyd, he's been in AZ for the last week or so, and should be heading home tomorrow. He , LT, and I ran an excellent trail yesterday, and that brings me to a question :?: about my truck. Both he and LT have the custom T-case, and Lloyd has the 5.29 gears, I was wondering if there were higher gears available for the '95 SR? The dealers here don't list a thing, so I'm giving it a shot. Thanks , Paul

Howdy Paul.
The only diff gear upgrade for the 3.5 V6 (standard is 4.636:1) is 4.90:1 from our late model diesels, Ian Sharpe has done this conversion and it did make a difference.
Unfortunately the 2.85 t/case gears do not fit the 3.5 V6 (the t/case is slightly different especially the idler gear). But if you 3.5 boys want to get together to share costs and either ship us a t/case or pay us to purchase one on your behalf we can certainly develop gears for this t/case and then ship over the built up case.
I take it Swartzy is happy with his 5.29's ?

Thanks for the reply, I'll stick w/ the stock gears for now, if you'd had replied 5.29's however... As for Lloyd, he seems more than pleased with the gears. I'll let him update you on his rig. Later, Paul

Woooohoooo... thats where Lloyd was. As long as he is alive, he has to ship my gears, and the guy is growing on me. LOL :D

Frank, you have to keep us posted if you ever get that group run the tcase gears going. I would definetly have a set cut.
