Shouldn't need to do anything to get it cracking...... The pistons will probably crack themselves before too long :D

2 3/4" exhaust, block egr and fit a dawes valve.
Check out patrol4x4.com for details. Lots of good info there.

You don't need a bigger turbo cause the factory one can already put out more boost than the engine can handle.
The Dawes valve is a boost pressure controller for variable vane turbos.
http://users.bigpond.net.au/conody/Manu ... roller.htm
It will allow you to bypass the ECU controlled boost controller and have full manual control. It will stop the over boosting issues that cause the 3l to blow.
Adjusted correctly, it will give you a flat tourk curve and boost from 1000rpm.
Another cheap mod is to fit a fan to the intercooler as the factory scoop is useless below 80kph.

Much thanks to patrol4x4 for the link.

You have to laugh at it or you will be sh1ting bricks. lol.
Never the less. Doing the mods that Chaz and the guys are doing to reduce the likelihood of the 3l blowing.
If mine does, then its actually a good thing cause the missus will then allow me to put in something that's got balls.
For the time being I will have to live with what ive got.

p.s. I was following a 200 series diesel on friday heading down the coast on Friday. Smoking heaps at 110kph.

Thats exactly right, if if does go bang itll be conversion time! and yeah ill be doing the conversions Chaz talks about cause he reckons there getting good results... thats good about the turbo, something i guess..
Has anyone used the Water to air intercoolers? a bloke at work put one on his 4.2 and reckons he got good results..
And the Ditronic chips? who's running what and where do you get them from?

I think its funny that "bogged" never has any constructive advice... never once have I seen him actually 'help' someone...

A 2 3/4" exhaust system, a chip that is adjustable dp or steinbauer, block of egr, fit a dawes, thats about it. Fitting a w/a will take some work. If you are prepared to pay for that then its the best.

I am looking for somewhere in Brisbane that can tweak up my 2002 3lt GU wagon, also looking at fitting an Intercooler fan and dawes valve. Anyone know of such a place that can do it all.

Not a newbie champ, my old Nickname ive been on here since 2002 just like you... and im sure other people would aggree he has more negative stuff to say than positives... I was just making the statement that if you dont have anything nice to say dont say it at all... but anyway this isnt the topic of the thread...
