New exhust question

Post by grumpy221 »

Hi Folks I'am about to put a new exhaust on new extractors 2 1/4 system new cat etc. Thing is have 2 quotes so far ...... $1700 & $1000 ! the first comes with a small resonator and $1000 for the extractors alone. How much have you paid for a new system and where?

Mine is a Turbo Diesel NG, so I don't have extractors, but I do have a 2.5 sports system (no turbo dump pipe) from the flange back (I think) and I payed $420 fitted. I don't know what sort of exhaust that you are paying for (I don't know if it's mandrel bent or not) but those prices seem a little steep to me. I also have a Suzuki Sierra with a 2" sports system and extractors set up for below $600 fitted. I understand that your Paj V6 is alot bigger than my Zook, but even still that seems expensive.
1990 NG Paj TDI: 2.5 exhaust, 146l Longranger tank, snorkel, 2" suspension lift, 31" Bighorns.

1985 Holden Drover: 2" OME suspension & shocks, extractors, 2" exhaust, 235/75 MTR's

My NM manual, petrol, Exceed is in today getting a complete 2.5" exhaust refit from the headers right through to the tail pipe. All Stainless Steel + free flow cat' converter. Also getting the O2 sensor/s replaced.
I expect a total bill approx $2k.
Therefore, your quotes seem ok to me.
Work is being done by Ringwood Performance Exhaust. Recomended to me by a number of people including members of the Vic. Paj' Club.

Mine was about $1600 fitted from memory.
Genie headers, high flow cat (from some V8 Guppydore derivate), high flow turbo muffler and 2.25" exhaust. Also had to have 2-3 exhaust studs replaced (about $60).
The 3.0 V6 is a bitch to fit extractors real knuckle scraping stuff mine had a 2" body lift at the time which helps a lot.
The new system did make a power difference and gave it a real crackle at high revs.
I just luv my "clacker Jabber"
