GU Patrol - Difference in Motors and Series?

Ey guys,

Sold my Ute today and looking at getting a GU Patrol for under $15,000.

Only want a turbo diesel but not sure if threre is much difference between the 2.8L and 3.0L TD and if theres anything i should look out for

Oh yeah big difference...... The 3.0litres have more power than the 2.8 but they also blow up a bloody lot more!!

check patrol forum, there was a very clean GU 4.2 for $15k while back...

PS. You wont get much GU for under $15k. most will be flogged out shitters.

Hang on, you mean the 3.0L blow up alot more?
If the case how much slower is the 2.8?

the 2.8's are gutless and and have injector pump issues, the early model 3lt moter was prone to blow as the turbo would shiv its self and put metal parts into the block, the 4.2 is the best thing around its very slow but it will never let you down.
If you could get a 4.2 for under 20k i would be surprised.
you could get a kick ass GQ for 15k but you probably want the good looks of a gu
nissan 98 gu 5" lift 37 creepys, 80%reduction gears, front locker and a gen3 and no money.

Would it be worth looking into the GU's with new motor/turbo's etc?
been looking on Carsales and theres a handfull there with 200-300k kms with new/rebuilt motors and turbos?

Try if you like but people are still reporting issues with later model 3lt's, granted its less common but still happens.
