GQ TD4.2 -T alternate airbox options???

yeah crankcase breather will need to be plumbed back into the intake sumwhere between the air filter and the turbo. for example, in those pics you could weld/braze a barb fitting the the steel adapter that conects the airbox to the intake silicon pipe.

i to have jus picked up a zd30 airbox and wil be installing it into my gq td42 this week. wil let you know how i go, but looks liek it wil be all sweet.

the other good thing about the zd30 airbox is because how common the zd30 is it makes them about 1/4 of the price that people want for a td airbox. :armsup:

nah i dont, but i wil have in the future. the gq this zd30 airbox came out of had dual batteries though. it was an arb tray and did require some trimming apparently.

Are the replacement air boxes that you get with gq turbo kits as restrictive as the td42t ones... If so i might invest in a 3lt one.

You could always use an aftermarket air housing. We sell these at cummins (fleetguard product) and there's a variety of different ones available. i'm looking at a straight forward 3'' in 3'' out for the turbo conversion on my rb30 patrol.

The Engine:

Highly modified 4.2 Ltr Turbo Intercooled Diesel. This engine was fully rebuilt and blueprinted @ 245000 km by JPC in Thomastown. The engine was specifically built to handle high boost pressures & longevity. JPC specialises in building diesel engines and turbo's for competition use. This engine delivers 240kw and 835nm at the fly. Power output at the wheels is an incredible 185kw running 33" tyres. In comparision, factory 4.2 Turbo Diesel engines produce between 70-80kw at the rear wheels (Running standard 265x75x16 tyres).

Garrett Roller Bearing Turbo

Large Front Mount Intercooler Plumbed with Stainless Steel Tubing

High Flow Air Box with Large Cylindrical, Cleanable & Re-Usable Unifilter

The ZD30 airbox bolts straight in to a gq with a tb42e. I ahd to move my carbon canister but i now have room for another battery!

Ok guys. The time has finally come to order my ZD30 airbox as my hunt for a second hand unit has bared no fruits. :cry:

My contact at the local dealership needs part numbers - can anyone post up the part number/numbers for the box??

Is there any differences between the different series GU's that i should be wary of??

No, its a proper dealership, but if i go in and ask for an airbox for a GU, they'll get confused because i drive a GQ. One of my riding buddies is 2IC there, and its just going to be a lot easier/hassle free and less chance of a fcuk up if i just say "Here's the part numbers, order it."

Nah, not Echuca, although i get the feeling that this problem is not isolated. I ended up finding the part number myself and ordering it like that.

For reference in this thread: P/N: 16500VC10A, RRP$412.33, i paid $350.00. That ia a complete airbox assembly including filter and the little plenum.
