G10A into LJ50

Post by ricky1970 »

Anyone done this conversion?

If so-
How did it preform, on road and off? Economy?

Any nasty suprises to look out for?

How tight a fit is the Sierra 5-speed in the LJ tranny tunnel?

Could you close the bonnet without modifying it or a body lift?

Would you do it again?

Weighing this conversion against a 3/4K toyota, which after reading a lot of posts, looks to have too many drawbacks.

Are you sure you mean G10, or F10?

TOO tight and will not fit without chopping

NO unless you cut the bonnet or get a LJ80 bonnet

Would you do it again?

You could fit this three cylinder engine and mount it in the front of the engine bay keeping the bell housing out of the tunnel but then you will have trouble with the clutch fork fouling on the steering box.

strolla motors are good but they are a way dodgy fit in a LJ50. TOO much be modified. I would go the G10 conversion any day personally. Much better engine and its alloy not a cast iron nugget

When was the last time you correctly spelled a motor into a car? The people that should stay away from spanners are pedantic English teachers & keyboard spelling nazi's.[/quote]

Just build the 50 motor

triple mikunis, tuned expansion chambers & a good porting job and you'll drive away from any but the best 4 stroke conversions
