60 series gearbox removal
It weighs 120kgs with transfer case,be very careful if your not using a transmission jack, but its a sraight forward exercise,no real tricks to know.
get your hands on a engine hoist and put it thru your front door and lower it onto the ground that way might be easier that way lift your carpet back and you will see a cover with bolt in it take them out and that cover will lift out i'm about to do the same thing
turbo 60 series, soon to be locked

60 gearbox removal
Its really very basic, just unbolt all the appropriate hardware, gearsticks and remove. Just remember they're vey heavy.
Remember to support the rear of the engine before removing.

As the blokes said they are very heavy. I bought a motorbike jack as I could not get a transmission jack at the time. It was easier to do the HJ75 than the 80 series as I did not lift the 80 series up and the transmission tunnel gets narrower restricting rear movement. The jack was around $100.00 on ebay.Using the timber on the jack lets you adjust the gearbox angle, very easy.cheers gazzavanners wrote:I have a hj60 with a 2H,5 speed and would like some advise on removing the gearbox. Is it a one man job at home? stockhorse wrote:Slightly off topic but may be helpful. Can you take the transfer case of the box while still in the car? might help with the weight factor when removing box.
you can, but you have to completely dismantle the transfer case to do it. and you have to dismantle the transfer under the car. and reassemble it under the car. put it this way - it's a LOT easier to just set up a jack to carry the gearbox and transfer together.
