Can anyone please post some pics of a swb wheelbase extension thats has been done just want to see all the mounts that have been moved?
and can it be passed in QLD?

To make it a bit more stable and better departure angle. Want to move it back by about 300mm.

Good link but dont want to chop the chassis as i have been told its harder to get mod plate for a chassis extension over moving the mounts back is this right?

i think the better way to do this is to move the coil mounts back on the chassis and fit longer links, might as well go 4 link at the same time, or worst case fit a new panhard mont, fit a new shock brace and relocated fuel tank,

its the way i did mine, but im in NSW,

I've seen this done both ways and cutting the chassis in the middle and adding a piece in is the best and neatest way to do it. If it's done properly the join will be the strongest part of the chassis.

i will admit, we left the original coil mounts in place, so we can always run a standard shorty wheel base, which we will never do again, a bit longer is absolutely awesome,

plus, chopping the chassis and adding a section really does nothing for his depature angle now does it?

im almost finished doing my shortyjust have to weld in the shock mounts and make a new rear floor pan, so you can come have alook at one in the flesh if you want. I get back to town on moday morning and go back to work friday arve so anytime this week is ok.

also my opinion only 12 inches is too mush you might as well go buy a wagon chassis and just trim the back off behind the panhard mount. When you get into it a small amount makes a big difference.

Except for someone who's been wheeling with the shorty for a while, the LWB will be too much of a barge.

That is assuming they dont want to add a teaspoon of concrete to their morning cuppa of course. :P

here ya go mate, pics of my setup, i went back 16" which took the wheel base out to 110" up from 94" i found this to be an awesome improvement,

It's neater because if it's done right 90% of people would never pick it, that's what I was trying to say. In my opinion adding a piece in the middle is the better way to do it. Your opinion is different to mine, but this guy asked a question and I gave him my opinion just like you did.

the coil mounts are GQ, i picked up some 6mm, RHS, and cut one side out of it to get the chassis level, the engineer though it was a good idea when i told him about the plan,

Sorry I don't have any close pictures of it actually being done, but I've sent you a PM with some pictures of the patrol in question.
