Just wondering what oil everyone uses in their diffs, transfer and gearbox?
Have only really worked on Sierra's and used Castrol VMX 80, but I'm thinking it could be too thin for a Cruiser???
What does everyone recommend??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

i was recomended vmx80 for my 80 series cruiser cause it makes the gear selection much easier and i have to agree as i found it much easier to change gears after i put it in

for your diffs, find out if you have a lim slip, and if the oil you have is compatible with lim slips ( the 80/90, the vmx is a man trans oil). I would think the VMX should be fine for the gearboxes and transfer, thats what the oil is made for.
Alot of gearboxes could run oils a lot thinner than they do, one reason that manufacturers specify heavier oil is to cut down on geartrain noise. I've run ATF in a lot of gearboxes speccd for 80/90 with no long term probs, just a bit noiser. ( the ATF usually shifts a lot better than a lot of other oils)

Re: What do you use?
Gearbox - Castrol VMX-M if its a bit dodgy on shifts, however VMX-M made mine worse. Im going back to Valvoline Dura-Gear GLI5 next change.
Transfer - VMX80 is fine.
Diffs, LSD/ARB you need the Castrol LSX90 or any good LSD oil, and open you can use the oil grade specified in the book.
