Best immobilisation points for G13B (carby)
Best immobilisation points for G13B (carby)
Fitting an immobiliser to the Zook at the moment. What are my best immobilisation points on a carby motor with mechanical fuel injection??? The alarm has 2 point immobilisation and I have to use both immobilisation points for when I move to Perth (2 point immobilisation required and inspected before they'll tranfer rego).
Thoughts so far are:
1) Relay to activate carby fuel cut-off solenoid (but not sure if this only does the idle jet...?)
2) Relay to cut 12v feed to coil (patch in behind fuse box - pretty easy to get past though)
3) Relay to connect coil to earth when the immobiliser is armed, so that if they do get the starter turning over the coil will just earth to the chassis rather than through the leads - ie no spark
Any ideas?

Do more than one point, do both the coil, starter and fuel cut. If they want a car, theives will get it regardless of what system it has on it. But by making it harder and more time consuming, you are upping the chances of them either giving up or being distrubed/caught.

take the carbon brush out of the inside of the dizzy cap, it's so small you wouldn't know it was missing.

I'm thinking that the starter motor is the first place everyone looks so it's probably the least useful cut point. Plus I'd rather that it turned over but doesn't start (no ignition) - far more difficult to track down no ignition than no starter.
Hell, a lot of Zooks turn over and don't start without an immobiliser fitted!! How would a thief ever tell the difference?!?

if is a requirement i would go with the coil and well u would pretty much have to go starter motor, but take the starter motor one off once u have got rego so theifs think the car is broken down...
also run your fuel line into your car or under it close to where u sit and put a valve on it which when u get out of the car u close the valve so the only petrol that goes in the motor is what is already in the carby and in the line past the valve, its funny when if a thief does get it started they only get 100 meters down the road and break down, then they leave the car cause they think its a piece of crap!!

That's kinda the point of an immobiliser - to stop it being a one-wire job to hotwire themlexplay wrote:black with white tracer wire. but any one can hotwire a carby zook with a coathanger or one wire. lol
Not keen on manual intervention like a fuel cutoff valve. Just looking to kill the ignition system at multiple points to make it difficult to get started.
i thought mine got stuck in neutral one day..... till i realised the axle was hanging a foot outa the diff when i got out to scratch my head.PJ.zook wrote:For the kids who steal one for a joyride, just leave the transfer in neutral, they may not know 4x4's.

weld a lug to the gearstick and one to the T/case shifter.
Cable and padlock between the two. They wont get far in low/reverse.
I hate "kill switches" they always seem to act up at the worst possible time.
