yes.

the 'B' in BJ74 means it has B series engine. in this case, a 13B-T.

BJ70

First letter is engine type, second letter is chassis country of origin (Japan)

Then the numbers after that denote body series.

I think the second letter thing being country of origin is a myth; all landcruisers are *J##, but say hiluxes for example are still japanese but are all N for the model. I think it's random.

second leter is "model" designation by toyota, as dumbdunce says. corolla is "E" camry is "V" rav4 is "A" corona is "T" cressida is "X" crown is "S" dyna is "U" or "Y" ....etc. etc.
TOYUKI Maruiti LWB, Lux diffs 5.29, 33" Simex JT'2s, Toyota 4k. Was ute then tray, then Cage type tray, then wagon, now ute again
MWB Cruiser 3B blue, Turbo, 2" lift, 33"s, Winch, f/locker etc.

I have read it on a few websites, but I never beleived it, and recently drove a HZJ78 but it was constructed in Taiwan :?
