Distance between fan blades and radiator with clutch fan

Post by Quadcamshorty »

Hi guys,

I need to know the distance from the front of the clutch fan blades and the inside of the radiator in a tb42 gq running the stock fan setup.

Its a long story, but I want to go back to the stock setup but I also need the radiator to move further into the engine bay than normal so I need to know how far it can move in without fouling the fan setup.

Thanks in advance.

I am looking to move the rad closer to the engine,, so the fan will be further into the shroud, thats why I was interested in how much clearance there is with the stock fan setup.

If I could move the rad 25mm towards the engine that would be plenty.

If anyone knows the clearance, let me know.

cheers

i could be wrong here BUT i alway,s thought that the fan blade should be 50/50 meaning 50% in and 50% out of the shroud so the air does not dam up inside shroud.

Mate the answer to you question is roughly 65mm from edge of fan blade to radiator core! Mine is a 88 stock tb42 with Davis Craig viscous hub (should be the same as standard)
Just make sure the viscous hub isn't wobbly like my old one as it nearly hit the radiator but distroyed some of the shroud!

thanks mate!

The fan and hub would be brand new, so it should be safe for a while.
Also if it drops to 45mm it still leaves a fair bit of room incase of failure.

thanks again.
