Hey guys.
Yeah its an SR20DET, i would not even bother putting the non turbo one in.
There is a few reasons that i am fitting this engine into the paj, but firstly i'll shed some light on what car the engine came from. It is the engine out of my drift car (i tried my hand at drifting for a few years while i was out of 4x4ing) and in drift you need low down torque. I built this engine for low down torque by a few methods including increasing the capacity, and fitment of a turbocharger producing its most torque from around 1500 to around 4500. Its actually a very responsive motor, i built it well.
Anyway, the reasons for fitting this motor are as follows:
- As i already have the motor, and have parted out the rest of the car, i already have everything required to do the conversion, hence no outlay of any money.
- The engine in my paj is really stuffed, and it seems so is every other paj engine in the states wreckers.
- And finally, no 4 cyl carb engine will touch this thing for power, torque, or fuel economy.
So seeing as the cost is nothing pretty much and i can't get another motor near as good, i thought why not, hehe.
Will indeed be a great conversion, i cant wait til its in. The paj now is using way too much fuel for the power it gives me (or lack of) and is becoming unreliable. It also no longer really has enough power to tackle any real fun 4x4 courses. Other coming mods to the paj will be a coil ass end, and maybe (and i mean maybe) i was thinking about uteing it.
Today i started making the adapter plate for the SR to fit in, i should have this done this week, and then i can start on rear half of exhaust fab, and i will start on engine mounts this week if i get time.
Thanks for the comments lads.
