WHAT DO PEOPLE REALLY WANT FROM & WHAT DO THEY REALLY WANT TO SEE AT TUFF TRUCK

I did speak with Sam Overton last year & offered to help!

So lets see what 2009 brings
See you at TT09

Mark Mitchell and other competitors raised concerns with TTC management in regards to the legal aspects of "registered only" vehicles allowed to compete in the event. Mark's owns concerns stemmed from advice that he had received from legal people that he knows. After taking on board feedback from several people on several fronts, TTC management brought forward it's regular "legal health check" of all aspects of the event from TEP's own solicitor. One of the outcomes from the check-up was that registration rule does open a really big can of worms and that the better option for protection of TTC management, competitors, officials and spectators was to drop the rule relating to compulsory registration/insurance.
It's my hope that organisers of other 4WD comps will have a good look at this issue as the rego related aspect is serious stuff when investigated.

agreedMark M wrote: In my opinion Tuff Truck also needs to focus more on the Competitors - we spend alot of money to get our rigs to the event each year with little or no recognition - so Tuff Truck needs to attain them better opportunities through sponsorship - better promotion through Radio, Tv, Press, Promotional material ie in show bags handed out to every spectator - for example like a full A4 page on each Team, truck, driver, navi & sponsors - so as to attract more sponsor deals for each team etc
The Direction needed for Tuff Truck & its future is A SAFE & FRIENDLY FAMILY ENVIORMENT, with INNOVATIVE & OR CUTTING EDGE VECHICLES that are easily RECOGNISABLE to both the public & potential sponsors alike so as to attract the larger corporations like Toyota, Nissan, Jeep, Suzuki etc to throw some money at our sport.

Ian, it is worrying but it's not. Whilst this particular topic is seperate to TTC, it's an important matter-if you are an event organiser (no matter what event) and aware of legalities relating to the running of that event, everybody is better for it. So it is important to get that professional legal view on your event-don't assume anything and find out where you stand. On this occasion TTC management did learn the importance on aspects relating to registration and I reckon that MOST 4WD comps would be in the position that we found ourselves in.loopy31 wrote:As a Park owner this is quite worrying. I have always thought that the rego scheme was flawed but have always thought we may be covered by the comp separate insurance. The "can of worms" worries me. If you can shed any light on this it would be good and if possible this should be in the public domain if you can share it. I assume that what you are saying that even though the comp organiser may have their own insurance this is based on the fact that he/she has said to the insurer that the vehicles are registered...therefore the insurance assumption is flawed and probably not based on the correct facts....ie most of the comp cars would not be insured once an insurance company had assessed them after an accident??? Any light you can shed would be good, and if you can make it public excellent. If you can't then can you share it by PM?Podge wrote:This public statement requires clarification as it is a good example of how so many unfounded rumours come about:

I would suggest to any 4WD comp organiser to get a legal health check on aspects of the comp but the one aspect that stands out is the rego. If TEP's learning on legal aspects can benefit all comps, then that is bloody great. It will only further the comp scene as a whole.
I would give credit where it's due to the guys that pushed us on the matter.

Maybe someone needs to move some of this action ......aswell
Im my opinion......this type of advertisment is not the kind that will in the big picture move this sport - OUR SPORT forward .......I dont FEEL its what TEP may want to have being displayed nor there sponsors etc etc
Dont get me wrong there are some valid points...being expressed....but its also putting a sour feel towards the Great work that Mark M has done for Very sick Kids.......
Anyway my opinion only ,as stated

instead of trying to buy TTC which seems to be growing each year.
There are plenty of empty weekends on the calendar.
maybe mark you can start your own competition.
moving things into the future does sound like "everyone build a rig like petes and mals and phils"
which from the competitors i know isnt a reality.
most competitors are struggling along as it is...
i see this abit like super league in the rugby league..
moving it into the future is going to result in 6 blokes with deep pockets and awesome trucks driving infront of a crowd of 500 and a few livestock.
its abit ironic isnt... buying tuff truck to piss the whingers off??
self ban??? (nobody else got legal advice over competing in a comp)
maybe instead of trying to change things it might be better for the masses to like it or lump it???
You still don't seem to get it - the only reason i got this legal advice from my mates (solicitors), was purely for the benefits for all - drivers, navi's, officials etc - i passed it on & the officials went to there own solicitor for there own advice and came up with there own decision - A GOOD ONEDIRTY ROCK STAR wrote:perhaps...
