Karman Vortex AFM
The Air flow meter on my Paj is not reading correctly, especially at higher revs/flow. Is it possible to clean these type of AFM as it is with a hotwire type or should i just get a changeover one?
Yeah i know how to clean it. Its just that my understanding of a Karman Vortex AFM is that it sends out a beam of light rather than a hotwire with resistance, where if the hotwire is dirty it will read incorrectly. So i guess my question is, can a Karman Vortex AFM be cleaned or is it more likely a problem with the sensor or circuitry?NutterGQ wrote:usually Throttle body/carby cleaner will do it without damaging the wires.
Experience in the 1UZ (Lexus V8) fraternity is cleaning them kills them.
Tr swapping with anohter Paj owner and see if it helps.
They are extremely reliable.
You can get a MAP to Vortex converter so you can still run the stock ECU without the KV sensor.

BTW they use ultrasound to measure the air disturbance created by a baffle plate ( or plates ) in the airstream ... i.e the vortex.
As there is a relationship between the vortex created and air flow - measurement is possible.
