hj75 brake pedal problem

Just after some advice before i put myself at the fate of a brake mechanic.
(thanks to those for the clutch adjust advice)

The brakes in my troopy were all fine until not being driven for a while, now the pedal sinks to the floor and takes 2 pumps each time its applied to get firm and stop the car. They still work but you have to pump it twice to get a firm pedal.

Question then is whats gone wrong ? I assume a seal somewhere, i have had a suggestion it's just a seal in the brake master cylinder but i don't know how to diagnose this.

Is there some way of me checking before i get a mechanic's opinion so that i don't get sold things i don't need.

Is usually in rear drums that seal fails first. remove the drum and check not hard to do. wheel cylinders not much$$. Is there fluid stain on master ?? can take a bit for it to show.

may just be an adjustment thing. If the pedal is good after 2 pumps then the pistons have been pushed out so that things are touching. Try to adjust them and see how it goes. You can put a pair of vice grips on the brake hose to eac wheel to check which one is the problem

ive got the same problem with my fj45 its not the master cyl check your rear drums thats all myne was i paid $123 new for the rear wheel cyl as they have 2 on each side hope this helps

turns out it just needed a good bleed and re adjust everything, it had been sitting for a while and has given no trouble since
