hey,
Can you be able to swap front leaf springs on a hilux to a coil conversion and leave the rear as leaf springs?

And i see on most truck, but not the hilux the leaf springs are installed under the diff than on top, why is this ???

you cna dude, but it will cost lots of biscuits, radius arm is the most simple way, but i still dont think its the best way to go offroad, on road it is fine!!

hilux has SOA due to the design, it has advantages and disadvantages, the SUA setup is far more durable, and can carry more weight in the eyes of the transport department, it also allows the vehicle to sit lower?!?!

u would be better putting rears springs in the front alot better flex but the ride is still a bit uncomfortable.

Why do u want coils anyway??

Yeh leaves in the front is fine, i put coils in the rear because i was able to get more controlled flex and it bassically eliminated wheel hop.

The front i will probly never change.

Julian, werent you having trouble with a rusted out cab? now you want coil springs. Here is what i would look at doing if i were you, find an old prado that is solid coil front and then swap a hilux cab onto it, i have been told that the chassis are almost identical and considering you are in NZ there should be a jap wreckers that you can get one from cheap.

As far as coil swaps go i know of one guy that had one done (not surfection) and they used a coil bundera front end into a 2000 dualcab lux, the conversion, not including parts was $7300, add parts and you would be looking at close to $9000, if you could do it yourself then you could get away for around $1000 but i will agree with every one else and say it is a waste of time and effort.

Thats not a bad idea prado chassis with solid coil and hilux cab- i'll keep that in mind
