If just between BFG or STT... BFG MT for sure.

IMHO STT is not a mud terrain tyre, more just an AT.

My cruiser on BFG AT's out performed a mates Lux on STTs in mud.

Hmmm. Just a thought, but I wonder if there were more differences than just the tyres here? Could any other factors have had an influence?

I had a ford courier with smaller BFG AT's outperform me in the jeep with larger MT/R's once at CityView. It was wet, there was an incline, a tree root, and clay/mud. I was annoyed until i realised that i was still running 35psi and he was running 20psi   ;)

had a coopers st delaminate on mates patrol, sitting at 110km towing a camper trailer, farkin thing delaminted - after it had done a total of 750km of tarmac driving

Grimace POS tyre, thankfuly coopers refunded the tyre and the insurance excess to fix the damage

My self and a couple of friends have had probs also. Anything from tread block seperation through to 2x full delamination of tyres at hwy speeds that were not under inflated - doing a lot of damage to the surrounding area. I was really pissed after having blocks start breaking off the tyre and being told that it was fine - that did my head in and Cooper replaced them pro-rata when I sent them an email asking if they are accepting liability for these tyres and the follow on results of a tyre failre - which is when they contacted me again to have them swapped out.

I was one of the first that came up with this problem AFAIK in Aus, but after later reading about others that where having the same and then worse, and likewise the litigation that was going on in the US and whistleblowing that was happening I now will not buy anything that is related to Cooper tires - so that includes Procomp, Mickey Thompson etc. even if they are made in different factories etc, there is still technology sharing etc. This said, its the tyre I don't like. Although I was pissed with the ETD Cooper rep, I would still buy a tyre from ETD, just not Cooper or related ones.
Cheers

Thanks for the heads up - I priced 4 x MTR's in 315-75-16 at $1495 fitted (thats for 3, with 1 for free):? . So I checked some other local prices too - BFG KM2 $1948 - Mickey T MTZ $1600, Maxxis Bighorn $1280.

Might leave it for a bit, I didn't realise tyres in that size were so expensive.

Wow that's spensive. I rang a few Goodyear places today. Most gave me almost the same 3+1 price as the non-goodyear tyre places could supply anyway. But one managed to get the price down a fair bit

his post says 315-75-16 ....

That is the price some people are quoted since the price rise on 285's in some patterns. 380ea for 285's. = for 315's .. not bad now apparently. ten again I paid $280 before price rise for my MTR's. (thank fuck I got in before Nov) but $370ish was what I was quoted at that time for 315's.
Compare that to the Q78 swampers I was quoted less sub $350 while back.

Then if thats inc rims is fawkin cheap I think..
Rims $ 480. = $120ea 16x8s
tires $ 1468 =367ea for 315's x4
$487 per tire on rim
Total $1948.

You wanna price some of the SMALL size 17inch tires dudes are quoting on patrol forum... 265's for 17in rims for round that price!
