ive got a 1990 1.3 soft top but it wont go over 90kmh!!! is this normal? a few of my mates rekon theirs can get up2 130kmh... can it be easily fixed? my spark plugs and leads have been changed and its all been serviced recently when i bought it... only thing is my tappets r pretty rattly could this have something 2 do with it?

that limits me 2 west with a morning easterly and n/e in the arvo lol
ok well its stock with stock sized rubber etc nothing i can see aftermarket or fiddled with.
will change air filter coz its reasonably dusty, timing however seems fine. ie. doesn't stall easily or "clatter" (forgot technicle term lol) when working hard at low revs.
how do wheel bearings effect it? they dont make noise anyway but i'll giv the wheels a wobble and a spin 2moro an hav a better look.
in regard 2 the throttle body butterfly i did notice at 90km/h when i back of the throttle it seems 2 pull just as hard at 2/3 as at full and is quite unerving when u come 2 slow down... anyway wen the butterfly doesnt fully open would it be because the cable is stretched etc coz the above would seem 2 point 2 the car just having no guts because of some other reason...
how fast do they go on average stock? i want 2 no how bad mine is lol

i saw that there was a bolt under the peddle but there seems 2 be no gain in power once i reach about 2/3 anyway...c0rrupt wrote:Remove the restricter under the accelerator pedal
im def gonna do the timing. get the missus's ol boy 2 giv me a hand... could this explain the rattliy tappets at all? also remember 1 mornin when it was cold it wouldnt go over 80km/h and was pretty rattly...
i guess it an old car just needs 2 be run over an all the kinks ironed out. at least it blows no smoke so i dnt think its totally stuffed lol
I've had wheel bearings so old on a suz that i bought that the car could bearly be pushed by 2 blokes on flat ground!
I'd also check your vacume lines on the carby ,I just rebuilt a carby and gained about 15k's top speed.
I may be speakin out of turn but if your jets or secondries are blocked up you may be running out of fuel at top revs.
(please correct me if i'm wrong)

well i guess it prob a combination of a lot of things after hearing all this... its done 330,000km but pretty sure its been rebuilt which isnt 2 say the carby was or things like wheel bearings were done either. looks like i might hav2 get the jeep in full flight again while the zook gets fixed up.
what im thinkin...
1.adjust tappets-rattly at the moment
2.check wheel bearings and replace
3.adjust timing
4.clean carby and make sure its all up 2 scratch
5.fix oil leaks in sump and rocker cover
damn well i guess i got it cheap. i luv the fact zook parts r so cheap and easy 2 come by especially after the jeep! its a beast already cant wait 2 get it goin properly lol what diiference would extractors make? the ones on ebay look like good value??
