SWB Suspension

Post by swbpatrol »

Gooda
Im just about to replace all my flogged out bushes on my SWB GQ 88 Model and im debating whether to change the springs i think ihave OME 2" but im not sure how sagged they are as i have many accressies on the car. I know fully articulated it rips the original flares of and i only run 31" BF Muddys on 8" sunraysias. Can any one give me some measurements on a similar vechile with similar OME 2" - 3" lift

the only real way to compare is to have the same rate and brand springs and shocks..

If your running lots more weight in it now than when they were installed, theres a chance you could go heavier springs to handle the weight.

Best way is to remove the springs, and measure the free length of them, against the free length of new ones... Thats what I would do first.

std rims are 15x7's or 16x6 (safety rims and split rims). Then they went to a 16x8.

Not sure about ripping flares off with his 31's. But I know of a guy with a 6" susp lift and a 3"BL and he could get his 31's to rub on the body full artic.

My 31's on fact 15x7 rims never rubbed on anything, but my 285/75r16's rubbed on there flares and the body alittle. Now have 35's and they rub in lots of places.

I ru 31 10.5's on 15x8's. Ive never rubbed the flares(on the rubber) but regularly rub the body with the inside of the tyre in the wheel arch

even still an 8 would be to wide I would have thought, except for a wierd swamper size (was a wide 31).
As I have a set of 265/70R16's on 16x7 rims for the road at the moment and there pretty narrow.

i tihnk they might be ripping the flares because they are on Offset 8" Toyate rims and on full flex they stick out more than a normal 8" or 7". Might have to get new rims to stop the problem :-(
