Sierra, SR20 with Bundera diffs build
I bought a 1986 LJ71 Landcruiser for the diffs:
Then stripped it down to the chassis:
Then cut the chassis up:
Then started fitting the mounts for the radius arms on to the Sierra chassis. I managed to use one side of the original spring hangers to align the new mounts:
Rear diff bolted in place. Has moved the diff back about 350mm:
Some Vitara rear spring perches which i cut out of the chassis but haven't cleaned them up yet:

I'm loving this build. Is this thing going to be engineered or even registered or some sort of comp monster? Cause I think you're on the right track to have one very very capable vehicle, light, flexxy and strong where it counts.

Why did you square cut the chassis, when truck chassis are cut, they are done with a sort of Z cut, so that the welds are a lot longer meaning much more support, and strength.

Truth is that I got lazy. I could have mounted all the components on to the Suzuki chassis but, by using the Toyota one everything is lined up. Coil perches match up, panhard will bolt up, shocks line up, plus I can run the heavier Toyota steering box. And the engine mounts are close to fitting the SR20 too.
I was going to do a better join where the two meet but it would have been more difficult to align the two together. The two different widths dont help nor do the two different sections, one is 100mm and the other 120mm so I just chose to but join it then will beef it up from here.
Yes using the full Toyota chassis would have been much easier but it is so heavy! The front part is 15kg heavier than the Suzuki part I cut off!
If it breaks when its finished you are welcome to say I told you so.

I haven't done much on this project lately as I have a Grand Vitara project I am building up as well.
I have joined the two chassis's together and just need to finish the plating on the join. Managed to get it all rolling. Picked up a roll cage which won't need much modifying to make it fit.

Just an update, this project has been scrapped and sold off as parts as I encountered a few issues which I could solve by using a different starting platform.
Some of these were:
Length of SR20 auto and/or adapting it to a transfer
Rear disk brakes
With these pin type trailing arms they would have been binding up in the bushes with longer coils as I mounted them at standard height.
They might seem minor problems but the project wasn't coming together in the way I wanted it too.
As stated before I have been collecting parts for the new truck which has taken a while to learn what fits with these Toyota parts but I now have the basics figured out and with post the new build thread soon.
