Has anyone actually done a conversion using Mk2/3?
I just talked to someone from Suzisport and they said they dont use the Mk2/3 at all because you cant use the angle drive for one
Also he was wondering how i was going to trick the computer when it goes looking for a speed sensor?
Edited: Sorry i was asking 2/3 not Mk1/2

All you have to do for a mk2/3 is open up the base of the cap about 2mm with a dremel.
For the rotor you need the brass sleeve out of the gti rotor, which is a press fit into the existing hole in the mazda rotor, drill a hole in the pastic for the clamping screw and your done, install leads so firing order is correct.
Although ive just modded the mk2/3 gti distributor to fit in a sierra angle drive. You can use the angle drive adaptor from suzisport.
The gti distributor fits in the angle housing, one clamping bolt lines up. Then i cut the gti shaft where the pin that holds the drive plate thing. I also cut the sierra distributor shaft about half way.
After that i turned the sierra shaft down to 8.1mm, drilled the gti shaft out to 8mm pressed them together and put a roll pin through the shaft.
If you have access to a lathe its not that hard, just have to measure the sierra one, and make the hybrid one end up the same length.

Why does the Sierra flywheel need to be used? Isnt it the same flywheel as the Gti?
I dont have a Sierra flywheel to compare to but the Gti motor i just picked up had brand new flwheel and clutch/pressure plate.
I know the splines on the clutch are differeent but i want to use the Gti flywheel and pressure plate with a sierra clutch. Is it possible?
Cheers

The canister thing is your IAC (idle air control) it controls the idle depending on accessory load. Yes you need it if you want the car to idle.
If you look at your pic, the red line you have drawn goes right through the brake booster outlet on the manifold. Its the barb with no hose on it.
Have you checked the crank timing gear keyway at the front of the motor. Apparently like 3 out of 5 chew the keyway and cause the valve timing to retard. Good to check before you put it in your zook.
Just finished one, pretty easy conversion.
