well all turbos whistle, but some exhaust systems block out the sound. best bet is to run a straight 3 inch pipe no muffler. then you get loads of whistle and loads of noise.

as for which kit, they're all much the same. just get one with a ball bearing turbo (most turbos are) as they spin up quicker.

you could try searching this site for 1hz + turbo, but in all the years of outerlimits, i don't think it's actually been covered before...

The best turbo waste noise comes from a Denco kit with a properly fashioned exhaust.

Mate i have a 1hz with a DTS turbo! i run a single muffler through a 2 1/2 inch pipe and have the exhaust dump straight out under the drive side door on my 75 series! I get good noise and abit of whistle. If you want more whistle go to a 3inch and take out the muffler! All the after market turbos are much the same!

I think you mean a screamer pipe.. instead of waste gate dumping into exhaust, the wastegate vents out its own little pipe at the first turn off the exhaust... kind of illegal, but if your just after sound :D

Dan.

If your exhaust lets it whistle its head off, chances are it will fart like an old pronstar also.

my factory turbo 80s still whistles loud enough for people to comment about it a fair bit

Mine has 4" mandrel bent dump pipe to the transfer, then 3"mandrel bent exhaust to the rear with 1 straight through 3" muffler. With no muffler it sounded like a school bus with a busted manifold

The Turbo on zoltans rig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=AU&hl=e ... f3cLRw0A5U mind you, i think its just running a 4" dia, dump pipe straight down off the turbo in that video.

My ct26 with dump pipe and about 500mm of 3" pipe exiting under the drivers seat sounded pretty awesome, mate could hear it from a few blocks away, but vibrated like hell and was very noisy. New 3" system with 1 muffler now and its reasonably quite when driven sedately but give it a boot full and it barks nicely
Cheers,
Dan.

Hey Z()ltan, is that turbo from one of the major turbo sellers or just one you selected yourself. Everyone I talk to tells me the one they sell come in about 2,000rpm but most of my driving is done from 1200 - 2500 so those big ones wouldn't suit my application
