Hi there.
I am chasing a intermittent fault on my chev/GQ patrol.
when i am driving for about 30-60 minutes my truck cuts out and comes to a stop at the most inconvienent places.
It is like i have turned the key off while driving.
By the time i pop the bonnet and fiddle around for a few minutes i can turn the key and it will start agian.
The items i have replced so far.
Plugs
Leads
Coil, Cap & Rotor
Ignition modual.
I have checked the wiring to the dizzy and i just cant nail it.
i am a sparky and am good at chasing faults but this noe has my stumped.
Any Ideas ????

So ignition wise what havent you replaced? When you replaced the coil was that the ignition coil, or the pickup coil within the dizzy or both? Did you use the thermal conductive paste on your ignition modules when you re-mounted them? Sounds like a heat related problem. What type of HEI system are you running? The coil is the internal type fitted into the top of the dizzy cap.
There is no other coil or coil pack.
Is it possable that the ignition module might be a dud, i bought the gear fron Eagles in dandy.
The problem seemed to occur after i changed the module when i was chasing a rough idle problem.

Yes it is possible that the new module could be faulty. Seems like you have covered pretty much everything else. Just one more thing tho, is the HEI a reluctor type trigger system? If so have you checked the gap between the iron veins and the pickup coil? Mmm thats all i can think of atm.
