My 80 wont stay on a hill
Just wonderin if any one can shed some light on this for me. I got an 80 series GXL wagon and have found that if i park it on a verry steep incline, with the hand break on (its poo) and in 1st gear low range that it will roll backwards verry slowly. i thought mabey rings but it dosent use a ounce of oil beetween changes. I've steeped out of a 75 ute(wich dident do it) into the wagon, is it simply a weight thing or do i have a problem.
yeah we learn to cope as best we can. i mean toyotas are the bestSIMMO84 wrote:Haha just like the toyota lsdthehanko wrote:you can always pop it into low range too. its the toyota handbrake

my troopy does the same thing , the handbrake is inop 94hzj75 , im talking about 30-40 deg slope, just jumpes backwards step by step , i just tell people dont parkbehind the thing unless they dont liek the current arrangement on the front end of there car
Beep. Beep. Beep.. Whats that sound? Oh Look Its Just Another ZD30 On A Tow Truck.. =)
What torque? Tighten it till it strips and then back it off half a turn.

if facing up hill isnt it supposed to go in reverse? or does it make no difference?
I know a lux is lighter, but even with a trailer on with my old petrol = no compression i cold park on some nasty hills in low r and no go anywhere.

Dose any one have any tips on adjusting the hand break as ive done it how the book said(step by step) and it still wont hold. Gotta pull the leaver all the way up before it even looks like holdin on.....maby i need a new handbreak cable? please help
sounds like its pretty stretched. is there no way of adjusting the cable? or is it already maxed out? if so chuck a new cable in.land8079 wrote:40 degrees plus, can only see sky.SIMMO84 wrote:How steep are you talking. Might help.

I normally adjust the brakes up tight and back off 6 or 7 clicks, you can adjust the cable in the cab at the handbreak lever ( i had to grind down a spanner to fit) but this is only a temporary fix as the cable will stretch again. Maybe try a new cable.thehanko wrote:sounds like its pretty stretched. is there no way of adjusting the cable? or is it already maxed out? if so chuck a new cable in.land8079 wrote:40 degrees plus, can only see sky.SIMMO84 wrote:How steep are you talking.
