Hey all,
the rear power window in my 4runner isnt working, it wont go up or down.
taken the switch out and it works fine.
Wired the motor up straight to a 12v battery and it works then reversed the polarity for it to go up or down.
Will double check the wires going to the switch. It may be the relay that has carked it???
any help?
Cheers
Dan

Weird, but I happened to be talking to a workmate with a 4runner the other day about the exact same fault you are having, his was actually open and wouldn't opperate.
He got in the back quater panel and pulled all the electrical plugs for the window apart to clean the contacts and then put them back together again (so he thought) and it all worked.
When he had finished and just about to close up the trim he found one plug still disconnected so reconnected it, window stopped working straight away.
Apparently there is a sensor or control unit that is a common fault which is stopping the window from working, he just left it uplugged and his still works fine.
Can't ask him for a few weeks what plug it is as he is on holidays right now, but you could maybe just unplug one at a time and see if you have any luck.

My mate actually stopped past work today and I asked him for more info on this fault.
Apparently there is a sensor on the rear tailgate to let you(or the window solinoid) know if it is fully closed or not which stops the function of the window.
He recons the plug for it is in the lefthand side trim panel and right in the corner.
Hope this helps.
