4#/55/6# T-case Twin Stick
Today I made twin stick's for my Troll.
It's not the neatest job or the best welds but it was good fun!
I run a 250 X-Flow, C4 Auto and 60's T-case with Marks 68% Reduction gears in an MQ patrol. Mine will be slightly different to others but you get the idea. My shifter's are mounted on the Toyota bolt on to this adaptor plate.
Was really quite easy. I know it has been done before and all that but just showing those that wanna see.
I hade a spare 40's Gearbox and T-case laying around so I used that as my template/working platform.
I used 2 shifter setup's too make the Twin Stick. You could use 1 shifter setup but means Machining and more fabbing etc. I also kept the original bracket that prevents Lo-2wd but modded it so I can have Lo-2wd (Rear). I have had Lo-2wd (Rear) in my car since the engine converstion was done many years ago, this is just some thing I wanted to try and do....
Original Shifter Setup's....
So here is the standard setup and the factory stopper plate thingy...
Cut it to allow the shifter to get Lo-2wd...
Next I did the 2wd - 4wd selector...
Then the H-N-L Shifter....
Then the H-N-L Selector mounted on the T-Case...
To connect the H-N-L Shifter and Selector's together I cut up more of the original shifter setup. Welded a piece of bar in the middle, and pinned it into place. I welded a piece of plate to the shifter, Giving me some where to pin too.....
As the Patrol Floor Pan is different i needed it adjustable. I have made mine so it has 6 adjustments in the H-N-L shifter, to shorten or lenghten the shift sweep. There is 3 Ajustment holes on each...
I then used the Oxy to heat the Levers and space them away from each other and the gearbox...
All Done....
I haven't put it in the MQ yet. I may need to lenghten the stick's, just so I don't have to reach too far. So I'll do some measurments and go from there on Tuesday....

Never had that problem in my old 40, But the MQ has a Total differenet seating position.pcman wrote:just done similar on my fj40 with a 5 speed the transfer leaver digs into ya leg in 4 low not with twinstick
also the side to side shifter is a perfect fit onto the bolt on the side of the gearbox
Correct. That is what I used, thats why I said it's easyer with 2 complete setup's.

Did some thing similar with my truck. The gear box is behind the front seats. So there was already a remote gear shift but the 4wd stick was still behind the drivers seat on the floor and a pain to get to.Tried with out much success to have one remote stick. But ended up with two that are slightly behind and between the front seats. They work backward to the normal stick due to the linkages, but not a major hassle
Cheers.
Cheers.

quick question for u Ben.
Would this work on my 60 that has push button 4wd?
OR
cos my transfer leaver only picks High and Low,
does that mean that i effectively have twin stick abilities?
ie. have car in 2wd, pull shift back select low range, does that put my transfer into 2WD low range? then push the button then have 4 Low
is this how it works..anyone?

ar ok, so when u drop it into low range, it automatically activates 4wd??frp88 wrote:my middie has the same transfer what you do is remove the plug that activates the vacum pin when you pull the lever. It is easy and it was only tricky cos my bash plate is big.
even tho the 4wd light doesn't light up?
