Re: bt-50 body lift
I know a few blokes who have tackled the cape with stock suspension. They had no problems. I myself have been quite surprised with the offroad capability of the BT-50. I have mine raised up by around 50mm. The only thing that bugs me is the BT-50 has the turning circle of a Mack Truck. My 80 series cruiser has a much tighter turning circle.vorno_18 wrote:just wondering if anyone has done a body lift on a mazda bt50 or ranger, as i no you cant get any more then a 2inch suspension lift without spending big bucks, im doing a trip up the cape next year and i want a bit of lift and some tyres,

Well I am no expert, but as I understand it, being torsion bar front suspension limits what you can do on the front end. You can wind it up a bit but only a little.
Sounds like they have raised the rear more than 50mm.
Did you measure the height before and after the mod?
How was it done? Heavy duty leaf springs? Extra leaf?
Without any weight the rear will sit up.
On mine, even though I beefed up the suspension, I still need to add an extra leaf because of the extra weight due to the roller drawers, canopy, roof rack, and all the gear I carry.

Re: bt-50 body lift
just a query, what size tyres were you hoping on fitting? would 33's fit with only suspension lift, say blocks in the rear and wind up the torsions. just anything larger i can see problems with front cv's.
