got done the other night for no flares (my own fault) but then when the donut munchin squeeler (no affence to the decent mr plods) has a go at my suspension, for being to bigger lift but cant tell me any regulations "its to big and it just looks to big to be roadworthy without an engineers certificate" i wasnt happy.
to find out if my lift is legal (4") i need to know the distance between the diff and bumpstop of a completely stock patrol. adr state that max you can lift a veichle is 30% bigger than that measurement. not that vic roads or the poolice man could tell me. had to dig it up myself.
oh and my garden edging front flares are to hard aparently and woul be unroadworthy coz if i hit someone might hurt em.

got mine rwc with garden edging but i swapped to rubber as it looks better goto clarch rubber and get some cost me about 30 bux for 7m (so i have a roll left just incase)

yea took it to a bloke today with me 31s on and mud flaps and he seemed pretty happy with the way it looked. goes in on monday for a roady

Both my cars have wipers, and I hate driving behind some asshat who thinks he is too important to have mudflaps. These are not actually ADR requirements, they are state regulatory requirements enforced by VIC roads.
Some of the specifics are extracted from the relevent ADR such as the ground clearance & the gradient ratio.

Technically there is no ADR requirement for mudflaps, there is a measurement of angles & widths that the wheel guard must meet to provide the required coverage of the wheel.
ADR42 then goes on to state the if mudflaps are used to privide this coverage then they must meet certain requirements.

always been curious as to why people think they can just chuck a big lift into their vehicle without any thoughts about whether it is perhaps legal or not. Also nothing more dangerous than driving behind someone without mudflaps and big chunky tyres, the amount of crap they throw up off the round is amazing.
Interesting about the garden edging being too hard. the whole point and on a legal note is that flares need to be structural and be able to deflect a pedestrian etc from falling onto the tyres.
From memory with mud flaps they need to be as per delivered on the new vehicle and must come down to the half way line on the tyres. so if the vehicle has been lifted or tyre size increased the mud flaps must be modified to keep this relationship in tact

I was at a random breath test the other day locally and as I was waiting
for the kind officer to read the machine I noticed another very interested officer in the rear vision mirror heading over looking at my mudflaps
(which are there but are way too small) and I mean small.
Anyway the cop breathalising me said no worries mate off ya go, I said cheers and took off.
Looked back and the approaching officer was talking to the breatho cop and pointing at me as I drove away. phew lucky this time I geuss.
Must put bigger mudflaps on.

My Truck is Low, (2inch lift only) 33's, Quite, Intercooler is hard to see so they hopefully wont want to pop the bonnet, but I need to get some bigger mudflaps to avoid the whole rwc thing.
Traralgon seems to have a lot of really high rigs with big rubber so hopefully mine looks nice and legal in comparison.

had every entrance blocked off. mate drove through behind me with smashed tail lights, none were working, no mud flaps 5 and a half inch lift with a butchered exhaust no worries, mine is a neat rig, doesnt look that high when the 35s fill the guards, just the cruiser offset 10" rims with the claws hangin out. oh well itl be back to the way it was (with a few minor mods) the day i get a roady

Mine aint ok. I lost one wheeling about 18 months ago and smashed a wheel arch flare at the same time. Rather than pay factory Nissan prices, I replaced all my flares to Bushranger flexy style, which meant I could no longer run the factory mud flaps. ive been done for having no flaps or flares, got two massive sheets of rubber which fixed that problem, how ever i am with smithy on the issue of 'if bogged is behind me i am removing them' sorry bogged but it seems like the only just thing to do
