wheel still wobbling after wheel bearing tightened.

Front left wheel on my GQ has play in it, after tightening up the wheel bearings the wheel still has some play in it, not as much as before but still there.
What do you think is causing this? I dont believe it is a wheel bearing issue. I think something else is worn.

while you are rocking the tyre up and down . if there is still movent there check behind the wheel and see if the play that you are having isnt the top or bottom swivel hub bearings eg kign pins . that might be the movent you are having . if so remove the metal shim and tighten back up . just a thought
just drive it...does it really affect your driving?

thats why i was asking if it really affected the driving experience, some people just notice these things and get them in their head they need fixing, when really you fix it and hte on road difference will be negligible...

Yes it is affecting my driving experience, because i can't drive over 80km/hr, the vibrations are so bad. So i'm pretty sure now that it is my king pins causing the problem, as per the posts above.

how did you tighten your wheel bearings? you said there was a little less play in a issue of 4x4 action they showed how to do a wheel bearing on a 4by.. ie tighten it bolt the wheel back on hit it with a sledge hammer and bang it was loose again you have to re tighten it .. after the second re tightening it was all good.. could that be your problem?
Maybe you just knocked off a tire weight and you wheel is out of balance. On mine it was this and a slight bend I put on a steel LC rim which resulted in the 80 km/hr shakes. That rim now has a load of lead on it to put it in balance until I clean up another spare rim and paint it. However, my shakes are gone.

Yep I am going with either the king pin bearings, if after the shims are removed you might need to replace the bearings, either that or I had a similar shake a different time(after doing the kins pins) and it turned out to be the control arm bushes but as you said you have installed drop boxes so I would imagine that you either renewed the bushes or gave them a good looking at while re-installing. This happened to me, couldn't work it out. Hub destroyed itself in the bush. Turned out the lock nut had been crossed threaded and causing the smallest amount of play. Still was enoung for the whole lot to wear out and let go. Fix it, you may need to replace the spindle and locking nut. They shouldn't wobble.

as just about every post here said , more preload on your knuckle bearings by removing a shim or 2 , there is a procedure for doing this in a manual
