Complete LS1 with auto/manual from SS ute into 40 series

Post by brooksy »

I am going to have a look at a VY SS ute that has been rolled. I can get the whole vehicle for $3,000. I am going to get Ray185 to come with me to check it out sometime this week.
I am actually not sure on whether it has an auto or manual (should have asked  ), just wondering if I should fit the whole motor & gearbox in complete, will I have any issues that will make this an expensive exchange. I am hoping it is an auto & what transfer should I go for taking in mind the 40 isn't the longest rig.

Cheers mate, I just want to see if the engine has taken a hit or anything else that concerns the motor /drivetrain. I suppose if the fan hasn't been punched into the block & the big plastic cover on the engine is fine it should give a good indication

Yep, no worries. Might pay to give it a compression test too. I'll bring the gear and a jump battery. Just pm me the details when you're ready.

Don't know, it is a young bloke that owns it, has been sitting out the back of his parents house for 12mths. It supposedly only had 40,000km on the clock. The roof needed to be cut off to get him & his mate out.

should be no probs fitting it in, and the auto goes pretty well behind them. Using the patrol t-case you need to strip the auto to change output shaft, If you use an 80 series t-case you don't need to.

If you need assistance with the electrics let me know, done about 30 of these now

Thanks Steve I will definately keep you on speed dial, I was looking at the Orion T-case using advanced adaptor
