rose jointed shocks?

hi fellas, can some one explain what is a rose joint for me. :roll: saw the rangie in 4WD monthly ( Nice ) :twisted: and it says that he has rose jointed the shocks for better misalignment. how is this done? would it be worth doing on the rear of a 110?

Sounds like you have been reading about Mike Smiths rangie.
One very nicley set up comp truck.

You would need to have mega travel - are you chewing through shock bushes or bending shocks at the moment? If not then I doubt you will need them...

thanks guys, no im not bending shocks or tearing apart bushes ( I wish ) just thought id find out if it would help on the rear of my truck. refering to the pic, is this a rubber bush in side the eye with a steel sleave/ bush, that allows better movement or a ball joint type setup? :roll:

Smithy does not have huge amounts of travel...it is just a well setup rig...

I've just bought some new Bilsteins with Rose joints for the upper and lower mounts. Basically the shock is a 10" buggy shock. These joints after a while will become clicky the importers told me, though not for a long time. At 10" I really don't think that they will give anything in terms of articulation, especially if the back end shock geometry is right.

Thats true - last time I crawled under their truck it didn't have rose jointed shocks either. I aint sure why they have them unless they have radically altered the mounting positions of their shocks. In the rear they had modest travel and shocks mounted fore and aft of the axle...

No rose joints either - this is two years ago... Does anyone have a photo of their current set up - we are not going to get that mag for a month or so yet as its a long way for the local distributor to swim to get it... :roll:

The rear aren't rose jointed, only the front. The main reason is, we run the 'Matt Lee' shock towers for the dual shock set-up on the front and they come set-up to suit rose jointed shocks.

The rear aren't rose jointed, only the front. The main reason is, we run the 'Matt Lee' shock towers for the dual shock set-up on the front and they come set-up to suit rose jointed shocks.
