Who knows what this is?

Post by SIMMO84 »

I have an oppertunity to get this cheap. The only reason i would be interested is for the diffs to swap into a hilux. As far as i know jeeps have dana diffs? What model/series would they be and are they any good?Would the diffs be stronger than hilux and are they easy enough to get parts, lockers (Mechanical not air) thanks for any help in advance

The hilux is plaanned for a V6 commodore motor and auto box and comp use so will be driven hard. :D

Thats a J10 ute.
Dana 60 rear and Dana 44 front.
No worries about parts or lockers all available. Google OX locker.
Plenty of ratios.
Dana 60 are 9.75 inch and stronger then a 9inch ford. Can get 35spline axels 1.5 inch.
dana 44 are 8.75 inch and very strong as well. The open knuckles are much stronger then the toyota or nissan closed knuckle and easier to service. moly axels and CTM uni's also availableif you need them.
The lux won't break them.
The years have been good to me.
But the week ends have done all the damage.

1520mm on the rear diff. 1570mm at the front. Not hard to cut them down.
The jeep would make a much better rig then the Lux.
They are built on a cherokee chassis and a V8 will drop in. The 4 speed will have a granny low gear.
35's will fit and don't look out of place.

The body is stuffed (rust) maybe if you were keen enough you could cut it all out but theres heaps in every panel, apparently it has a nissan 6cyl turbo diesel in it (not td 42 dunno wat it is tho) and has g/box dramas.
If anyone is interested let me know and i will pass on his details.
