Size of rims & tyres
What are the widest tyres and rims I can put on my 1990 Feroza without damaging wheel bearings ect? I would like to put on 10" if possible.
If you start adding substantial negaive offset ( rim sticks out more than in ) you will add load to the bearing assembly and just as importantly increase the scrub radius when truning the wheel which will make the chances of the rear of the tyre touching the inner guard when turning much greater.
Width in its own right really isn't a killer if offset is small - the major issue will be gaurd clearance at the top on bump and flare clearance at the rear.
In practice the guard rear is the major problem becuse it cant be fixed by bodylift etc. The Feroza flares really aren't long enough for 30+inch tyres if your going off road.
I'm in the process of making longer flares to top the 34's destroying my guards/flares.
Also....... why such a wide rim - you need to be very carefull to clear the top ball join on the inside and a tyre designed to fir n a 10 " rim will require massive offset to clear.
Might be ok for sand driving but might not be an ideal tyre for most other uses.

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

I think thats' an excellent choice... big enough to make a difference, without hurting the gearing too much, damaging the guards etc etc.
Sometimes it doesn't seem cool to stay with a smaller option - but it is a very workable compromise.
