torsion bar- sway bar

Im thinking of using a torsion bar from a ford courier as a sway bar for the back of a CJ6 jeep to stiffen it up on the road. How do I Guestimate how long the lever arms should be?

Hmm very tough one to figure out.. to figure it out properly you would need to know the torsion rate of the bar and the rough force in which you want to dampen the body roll at the point in which the bar is connected to the chassis.. i would prob go with about the same length arms that torque the bar on the courier suspension.. I would imagine they would be about right.. could make it with a bit of adjustment built in too perhaps? are you going to make it with a quick disconnect?

It will have quick disconect. Looks like Im gunna have to just wing it.

14 - 16 inches , for a 300 pound , the shorter the arm the stiffer. A 300 pound bar should work ok on a cj6 , I am putting the same on a cj5 , patrol diffs , 350 chev , turbo 350 , 36 inch swampers. With the long arm it will more than likely flex with the bar connected , and it will provide great stability on and off road , Cheers Paul.
