rim width

i just bought 15 x7 alloys with neg 13 offset.
will a 215 75 15 squeeze onto them or is the tyre to skinny?
more so worried when they are aired down to say 8 psi if they will roll off the bead more so than if the stock size rim was used?

215 is pushing it for a 7" rim. I'd be careful with airing them down.

When my Sierra was stock I ran 205's on my 7" wide alloys. It sort of works at 20psi and higher pressures.
Had a 205/70 roll off the rim on a bend one day at 70km/h though (not fun). The 205/75 were slightly better, though mainly because they were newer and had a better bead.
of course a 215 will be a bit better, but still sub-optimal.

OK so I got skimpy on the description. What I meant was the bead sealed better. The old rubber was old and cracked, and they did not hold the bead very well. The tyres were not really suitable for use. The car never should have passed a road worthy with them; but it did and I bought it. The new tyres held the bead better, I don't know why, but I presume because they were newer, and the rubber sealed better.
If this is still not good enough give me an education on tyre beads. Obviously you cannot make me any dumber...

If you dont like how outers is Jock why even bother coming here. let alone posting up with negative garbage that doesnt improve any ones knowledge. Stupider yes, but not nessessarily from being on outers.

skinner rim better, got 31x10.5 on stock sierra rims, air down to 6psi no probs, got 31sx10.5s on 15x7 rims also and 10 psi is pushing it, rolled the tyres off them rims a few times

I don't think it's a good idea to advocate a 10.5" tyre on a 5.5" rim.

I've seen a 10.5 on a 6" rim and even then it wasn't happy.

you are doing something wrong then mate. i have 31s on 15x8 rims
and go down to 7psi and have never had a problem.

dont know ay, cant seem to roll em off a 5.5 rim... tyre shop said not possible to put the 31's on, the vit drives straighter with the narrow rims(prob because of the offset) on the 15x7 cant keep her driving straight, pulls everywhere

I'm sure it's driving straighter because of the offset.

That doesn't make it right. The tyre is trying to crown badly on such a narrow rim, screwing up the contact patch, there's excessive sidewall bulge - it's not a happy tyre.

Just because you can get it on the rim doesn't make it right - that's why there's a tyre and wheel handbook that lists the recommended fitments. You are so far outside of that range it's not funny.

I have been guilty of under-rimming tyres in the past, but that's always been on crossply tyres that crown anyway, and never as badly as a 10.5 on a 5.5" rim.

I have 31" bajas on 8" rims, in summer air down to 5psi, had her up on two wheels often, never rolled a tyre off, touch wood.
