gq brake upgrade? wat to use
gq brake upgrade? wat to use
have 93 td42 lwb patrol, with all the gear, want to update the brakes.?? any suggestions?
From an old patrol forum threadMaverick93 wrote:Since both have been suggested for a GQ TD42, what's the differance between GQ 4.2EFI brakes and GU 4.8EFI brakes?
Physical size and different calipers. You would somehow need to mount the calipers which wont bolt up to the stock GQ mount positions, then run 17inch rims.

all depends on how fast you go and how many times you want to stop.ORSM4B wrote:bogged wrote:Whats your budget.

As a 89GQ on 35s with fresh pads and slotted disks. It dosent take many application and the brakes are cooked. I would say my fix of fitting a GU front with twin pot calipers and larger disks will be fine for me.
But anyone that races such events as the OBC and Cliffhanger would over heat there brakes to the point of the car not stopping easily on the longer Nav stages. It would be worthwhile.
Also there not for everyone. But when these guys have an easy 90grand in there cars. Whats $6000 to make it stop.
Plus there shiny and everyone loves shiny things.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
