Is this the right sump for LS1 conversion?

Post by str8up »

I'm about to buy this for my ls1 patrol conversion just making sure it's the right one. And Is there anything else i need or have to modify? Can I just use the dipstick and tube off the original LS1 sump?

Yep its the correct one and you need the correct dipstick to suit.
The seller appears to be Eagle Auto Spares, I got mine from there 18mts ago

theres a plug you can knock out to fit the standard dipstick but you will have to cut about 70mm off to get the correct reading
nissan 98 gu 5" lift 37 creepys, 80%reduction gears, front locker and a gen3 and no money.

thats the right sump.. but beware! if the pick up tube doesnt have the o ring then u have to get the right one! the normal Commy LS1 o ring is the wrong one.. i found this out the hard way!

also if its goin into a std hight patrol u may have problems with the steering arm hitting the sump, easy fix, jsut have to get sumone to cut and shut sump.... i also found this out the hard way when i lowered mine to get it engineered
...
this is a useful link on ls sumps

Cheers do you reckon a 2 inch lift would have enough clearance? Eventually it will have a good 5 inch lift but I didn't want to do that at the same time as the conversion.
