Buying a Suzuki in Tasmania?
Buying a Suzuki in Tasmania?
Hi there,
I have just purchased a Jimny in Tasmania and plan on driving it around Australia, slowly. Does anyone know how you can get around not having a garage address or a residential address in Tasmania without registering it in another state?

Japanese and Europeans do it all the time.
Mudbits - Do you have a friend/relative in Tas you can change your address to? That way they can forward you your mail as well.
Just saying it can be done, as none of the travelers I have met have an ozzy addressTheOtherLeft wrote:Relevance????david123 wrote:I have no idea, but as oz is full of people who come here, for overseas, buy a car or bike, and travel, it is doable.

I saw your reply as being totaly relavant. You may not have answered his question totaly but at least you made it clear that there must be some way to do this as it happens all the time. I have also sold vehicles to backpackers and they have somehow transfered the rego into their names.
could you make some sort of "arrangement" with the seller to keep it registered in their name it & inform you of any infringements etc?Mudbits wrote:No dont know anyone there so thats why I was asking if there was another way.
I did have a vehicle in Queesland once but didn't need to prove an address like you seem to in Tassie.
