horrible banging noise

Post by 95shorty »

i have a problem with my 4x4 theres a horrible banging/ clunking noise coming from my transsfer case, and im loosing drive to the front end could this be the result of the chain drive that goes to the front driveshaft output slipping?? is this a known problem for these to fail?

It has been known to happen - yes. Although I don't think it's common. I was also present when a Gen 3 stripped some gears in the transfer case - fortunately for him, under warranty.

not 100% but the whole combo would require the free wheeling hubs to be fitted.

Is the gearbox shagged as well as the transfer? if it is just the transfer then whay re you looking to replace both?
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
